Brett is a Manager in RMI’s Carbon-Free Buildings practice, supporting the REALIZE and Pathways to Zero initiatives. He is currently focused on demonstrating a highly scalable model for zero-carbon retrofits to affordable multifamily buildings. Brett also works on grid-interactive buildings and communities, exploring how distributed energy resources and demand flexibility can provide grid services and support increased renewables integration.
Background
Before joining RMI, Brett worked at Energy Solutions, an employee-owned energy consulting firm focused on creating large-scale environmental impacts through market-based solutions. Brett’s core practice areas at Energy Solutions included energy and emissions modeling, microgrids, building energy design and simulation, and bus fleet electrification. Prior to Energy Solutions, Brett spent 10 years splitting his time as a contractor working on residential new construction and remodel projects, and as field faculty teaching mountaineering courses for NOLS.
Brett currently lives in a demonstration 100 percent solar-powered tiny house that he built with a team of students while in graduate school.
